It was the middle of the night, they needed the rest for the journey ahead and yet, Farren was still awake. There was no reason to sleep as this trip was never about trading grain. He had hoped Seth would see that and become suspicious; that he would refuse and pry until he found out what was happening. At least then, at least then he wouldn't have to completely betray him. Farren let out a tired breath as he swirled the dark crimson liquid in the small bottle. If not for the tightly screwed cork Seth would realize it was not blood as Farren had said.
Farren swore silently as to not wake Seth, it wouldn't have mattered if he screamed , Seth was drugged. It was quite simple really, offer him a bit of blood laced with heavy sedatives; Farren knew that Seth wouldn't think twice about it and accept it. Now there he was, lying there snoring softly as Farren held the serum, just a few feet away. He gripped the bottle tightly as he shut his eyes, he didn't want to do it but....that DAMN Cadejo. It was quite a surprise to see his kind, especially with the young prince. His sworn enemy, THEIR sworn enemy and yet..
He let out a small laugh as he shook his head. " The beings you decide to associate with Seth.." His voice seemed sorrowful as he recalled how he had no other choice but to tell his majesties what he had witnessed. The very creatures that almost wiped them out still walked among them. Farren never expected them to continue with the long abandoned project, if he did he would have never...he would have never bring Seth into it. Now there he sat, in his hand a bottle that contained years of hard work. And for what? The sighting of ONE Cadejo? Farren wanted to refuse but he understood, and although Seth would hate him for the rest of his life it was a price he would be willing to pay. For his sake, for their sake.
He would do it tomorrow, by then their 'destination' would be reached. Not a town or a marketplace but a clearing far enough from civilization. There he would test out the effects of the serum. It was a horrid concoction, after years of research and careful measurements they were able to create the perfect weapon for a person like Seth; A serum that would bring him into a state of constant thirst until he was administered the antidote. On a humanoid such as himself, it would simply drive him mad but on Seth, well, he was the only human-chupa that could shift into a beastly form. If it worked properly, which he hoped and dreaded, it would mean they had something to use for the front lines if it proved there were more than just one Cadejo. Farren lowered the bottle and stared out into the distance, counting the stars and wishing with each breath that he didn't have to do it.
"I'm so sorry Seth."
